Hi everyone,

Today was a great day(even though we didn't get to sleep much). We had some breakfast(bacon and scrambled eggs) and went to church. We went to a Presbyterian church where we sang 2 songs, listened to a short sermon then played some games. We had some morning tea, got to ring the bells at the church(the bells were donated by a mum who dedicated it to his son.It was taken from a church in Perth) and take some photos. After church we did the Reconciliation Park walk and also the Australian of the Year walk. We walked back and had burgers for lunch. We all ate so fast because it was so cold.

Later on we went to Questacon. It was like Scitech but very big. We were allowed to wander around with a partner. My personal favourite was the free-fall drop. It's when you hold onto a bar and drop onto a slide(it was scary at first). We all went so many times. We got to see a show on taste buds and how we react to different tastes. We did a few experiments like sucking on a lemon then having a throat lozenge then sucking on the lemon again. The special throat lozenge contained miracle berries which made anything sour taste a bit sweeter. We also got to dye our tongue blue to see our taste buds. We were allowed to wander around a bit more and then we went to the gift shop and were allowed to buy something. Later on we came back to the motel and some people had showers. We went to dinner(roast beef and vegetables).

Right now we are having devotions and singing a song. We will start practising for the talent show we are having on Tuesday night.

Miss you so much mum and dad but I am having so much fun here!

Hello people!

Today was a fantastic day! The day started off well because we were allowed a sleep-in until 7am! After a nice breakfast, we went to Cockington Green Gardens, a beautiful miniature village. There we got to see many historical and famous buildings in miniature form. The lady told us that most of the buildings were built to a 1:12 scale. The buildings all had a lot of detail, and all the grass was well looked after.

After that we went to a sheep farm. One of the best things about the farm was the sheep dog. His name was Digger and he was a Kelpe. We watched the farmer and the dog round up the sheep. To help them, Sam and Eden also acted as dogs and helped round up the sheep (they weren't the best dogs). After this, a few of us got to wrestle the sheep so we could practice what the farmers have to do before shearing the sheep. Then we watched the farmer, Craig, shear a sheep.

The last stop of our day was at the Australian War Memorial. This was a fantastic experience! After a few brief instructions from a lady who works there, we went to a hanger to see several different old planes hanging from the roof. In this hanger, we got to see a few different videos about the different wars the different planes were in. One of them was made by Peter Jackson (the director of Lord of the Rings). We only got to see a small area of the museum, lucky for us we are going back on Monday to see more.

Mum and Dad I miss you, but I am having a good time!

Hello Parents!

Yesterday included a lot of waiting at airports because our first flight was delayed, but after getting off at Melbourne, and catching the connecting flight the rest of the day went to smoothly even though we did get to the Carotel dorms late.

Today my classmates and I visited the Australian Mint. There we learnt about how coins are made and the difference between uncirculated, circulating, proof and other types of coins. When I was there a got to get a special coin from a machine that makes coins. The man that toured us around the building told us about the history of Australia's money system and how it became unique to Australia.

The next place we visited was the Old Parliament and there we watched a video about the history of voting rights in Australia. The thing I learnt there was how to vote and the rules for voting, etc. Also I learnt how votes are counted up and distributed.

After eating in gardens next to the Old Parliament house we travelled with our bus to the current Parliament House. While there we got to see the House of Representatives and The Senate. The architecture of Parliament is very fascinating and well thought out. I also learnt why having a democracy is a good way to govern a country.

Currently we are in the multi-function room at Canberra Carotel having devotions and having fun.

On a side note to parents, the school phone has been misplaced, so if there is any emergency, please contact the Secondary office and they will pass on any further contact information on to you.
